Hi Renata...
...
You have a marvelous grasp of the medium,
both technical
and esthetic. You don't know how much crap I look at that is contrived and
banal. I went through all of your stuff, picture by picture, and there was
very little I didn't like. Most of it, I just smiled at...with the kind of
smile that says: Ahaa...wonderful. I also saw the influence of some of
the Old Masters in your lighting, choice of colors, and so on.
My site is geared toward informing relative newcomers about digital
photography in an easy-to-understand and one-to-one manner. However, I've
picked up quite a few advanced amateurs who are gaining insights into
things they've always been foggy about and who love looking at good
photodigital work.
I put in the Digital Pros section to show viewers what could be done and
give them some inside technical info, if the photographer wished to share
it. Hiroshi Kamakura was a real find because he actually used the kind of
digital camera that readers would...although, of course, he's not revealing
too much about his core technique, but did give good insights into some
technical stuff.
I had not planned to exhibit groups of photographer's pictures in the
Exhibition Halls, except as they related to the site...for example, contest
winners (I have a great one planned), stuff that school kids are doing with
digital, etc.
But I don't see why, for example, I couldn't take a featured pro and, after
they are written up, put a half dozen of their pictures on permanent
exhibit. So, for example, after Hiroshi gives way to the next, he gets his
little corner of one of the halls.
What I also want to do is get some inexpensive digital cameras into the
hands of photographers like you and let you shoot with them for a week or
so and see what you come up with.
................. , let's see if we can start by featuring you
as a Digital Pro.
You'll have to reveal some basic "secrets" (can be in general terms) of how
you did the picture we'll feature.
.............
Anyway, by the time, your picture runs, I'll have figured out a way to put
in some kind of permanent exhibit. ...
Thanks for giving me a very pleasant hour looking at your work.
Let's hear from you.

Sorry its taken me so long too -- I've

You deserve the compliments! I liked it when

I sent you that first note. I try to compliment people on their work, because
I know that very few people do. And I really hope you get more offers and
more work, especially along the artistic lines.
I certainly think you will! ...

I'm looking at your work
on this site right now -- its wonderfull!
I absolutely love the model in the "awaitingratajczyk.jpg" picture.
I would love to have a model with that "look" to work with.
I also love the lighting and expression in "susa2b-c.jpg."
That's a fantastic portrait, and it conveys an interesting mood.
I really like when the emotions, or feelings, are captured in a photograph.

Renata,
I read your featured article on Arthur's web site, Digital
Photo Corner. I was impressed
and intrigued and had to visit your other web sites to browse your work.
That was my original intention... just to browse some. However, I couldn't tear
myself
away from your images. I had to view every one you have posted.
If I just say your work is beautifully stunning
and impressive, I hope that conveys how really
wonderful I think your images are. It's been a while since I've seen such an
inventive and
interesting display of the variety that you have there.
It was mentioned that you were looking forward to using digital
cameras in your work.
Have you begun to do that yet? If so, I would love to see your work.
Again, thank you for the "peek" inside your work and mabye a
bit inside you, as well.
I enjoyed it immensely and hope I may see more of your work very soon.

Renata,
Thanks so much for your reply, and no, you didn't delay at all...
I realize you are busy.
I want to thank you for allowing me the "private" look at your passworded site.
As were your other photos, these, too, were stunning and thought provoking.
I will surely honor your confidence in me and not give out your login and password
to anyone.
I realize you gave it to me in good faith, and I will certainly respect that.
Yes, NilexArt Designs is my web design company, and that is
my web site.
I got interested in "digitizing" photos back in 1983 when there was first talk
about it.
It never materialized at that time, however, it did prove to feed my interest
to begin
exploring computers... the first I had was a CP/M machine.. not even DOS.
Of course, back then, there were no graphical interfaces and very little on
the graphics
horizon for the common user. Now, that has all changed with the explosion in
the realm
of digital cameras. I had been using Adobe PhotoShop before then to assist in
web design,
but, now I'm excited to explore all the newer possibilities, as well.
Your having an independent web site is an exciting idea. I know
it will become popular.
I myself, will certainly look forward to it. Yes, you may use anything I have
shared with you.
I certainly think your work is outstanding and unique
in a way that I find very interesting,
intriguing, beautiful and introspective. I'm so glad
I stumbled across the article featuring
you and your work on Arthur's web site.
If there is anything that you feel I could contribute in any
small way, please don't hesitate
to ask, and I will surely do whatever I can for you.
Once again, thanks so much for answering, and keep in touch
with me as your time
and inclination allows.

Subject: your beautiful art
Dear Ms. Ratajczyk:
I'm writing you this letter to tell you
how incredibly talented I think
you are as an Artist. I'm sure you hear this often but I'd still like to
express to you the emotions that your images stir within me. You touch the
heart as well as the spirit. You're vision and imagination is beautiful and
inspiring. Being a poetess finding images that strike a cord in me are a
jewel. I cherish them and collect them as one would a treasure. Needless to
say I'm lost in your work often.
I've never approached anyone before about the use of their
Art until recently
when I contacted A. Andrew Gonzalez, Jim Warren, Paul Butvila, Stephanie Pui
Mun Law, Brita Seifert, Johanna Pieterman, Jean Paul Avisse, Tito Salomoni
and Jonathon Earl Bowser whom have graciously given me permission of the use
of their images. This was encouraging and in all honesty and their approval
has in truth given me the courage I needed to write you. You are one of the
first of a group of Artists in which I intend to communicate with I apologize
for taking so long to contact you but with my writing and Christmas things
have been hectic.
I truly would consider it a privilege
if you'd allow me the honor of showing
some of your magnificent Art with the poetry they have inspired from me.
I'm
interested in several of your images if you'd like I could send you the title
of one of your works that has so captivated me and the writing, which
consequently transpired. If you find my work worthy we can correspond from
there. Know that I will do nothing but personally enjoy your work unless
given license to do otherwise by you.
Maybe it would be easier if I told you a little about my ideas and myself.
.... I've always been told I have a talent for writing and have finally decided
to
publish some of my work in hopes that I can better support my family.
My hearts desire is to get permission from you and other Artists that
have helped inspire my work. Allowing me to publish in a book the images I've
admired together with my poetry. All Art would be prominently titled and
credited. Along side your work on the opposite page would be my poetry. Also
in the back of the book, web sites and addresses or galleries where your Art
could be viewed or purchased would be available to any that purchased this
book. My hope is a publishing house will be impressed with a presentation of
this idea and be willing to promote it
.if not I would pay to have the book
published and marketed myself. If this occurs a web site highlighting the
poetry and certain images would be a goal. I have the greatest respect for
your talent and only hope you will allow me this opportunity to offer you
another avenue in which to showcase your work to the masses, who in my
opinion could benefit from more beauty and culture in their lives. If you
find that this is something that might interest you I would be extremely
pleased. If not I understand Artistic temperament and again thank you whole
heartedly for the beauty you've created with your work.
Thank you for your time,
Hoping to correspond with you soon.
